Introduction

With over 20 years’ experience in the design industry, I know the value of hand drawn and crafted. The need to disconnect and embrace the joy of making.

I found that despite the world of stationery providing an exceptionally broad selection of pens and pencils for tailoring your mark on the page, there wasn't the same choice of tools for how to measure and draw accurately.

I wanted to create a collection of geometry tools that are easy to read (especially for those with dyslexia like myself) and easy to use, whether individually or combined. A selection of considered rules, triangles, set squares, protractors and other drawing aids that are all naturally intuitive.

I went back to the very basics of what each tool needs to do. I redesigned the millimetre increments to make them easier to follow. I created products that dimension right from each corner and in both directions. I considered how and where a datum point is needed and when you would need to mark it.

The end result is a Divide & Rule; A unique collection of beautiful geometry tools designed to make the creative process as easy as possible, all made in the UK from sustainable materials, individually packaged with both the product and packaging being fully recyclable.

Original

Technical

The Original Collection is where DIVIDE & RULE started. A warm and tactile collection made in Europe from fully recyclable and carbon neutral MDF that gives a beautiful textured look to the surface. The markings are all etched in to ensure they cannot be worn away over time and the back face is painted black to allow the pieces to move around smoothly on notepads and drawing paper.

Technical

The technical collection is tailored towards those seeking greater precision in their work. The tinted transparent grey acrylic allows for you to see the working area behind it. The markings are etched into the rear face making them easily legible whilst ensuring they can never be worn away over time. The acrylic itself is made in Italy from 100% recycled plastic and is entirely recyclable at the end of its life.
